- 227 g unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 340 g powdered sugar (sifted)
- 12 oz cream cheese (cold)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two greased 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, dark brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and spices until combined.
- In another bowl, beat unsalted butter and then mix in milk, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients using an electric mixer on low speed until just mixed.
- Divide the batter into the prepared pans and bake for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans before transferring to a rack.
- For the frosting, beat room temperature butter and cold cream cheese until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar until fluffy.
- Once cakes are completely cooled, frost between layers and on top/sides.
