Ingredients
- 2 lbs (900 grams) apples (Gala, Fuji, or McIntosh)
- 10 cups water
- 2 tbsp (25 grams) brown sugar
- 4 inches (55 grams) ginger
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 tsp black peppercorns
Instructions
- Wash and quarter the apples without peeling them.
- In an Instant Pot, combine the chopped apples, sliced ginger, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, and water. Cook on high pressure for 18 minutes. Release steam manually and let cool.
- Alternatively, in a stock pot, combine ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer for about 30 minutes until apples are soft; steep for an additional 10 minutes off heat.
- Strain the mixture using a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher or jar.
- Allow to cool before storing in an airtight container. Serve hot or cold as desired.
